我们面前的这本书，是应文科硕士生的教学需要而编撰的。这些年来，关于马克思主义原著方面的书籍陆续也出版了一些，大体上有两类：一是研究性专著，另一些是注释性导读。本来，这两种著作间并不应该有绝对分明的界限，因为任何有价值的注释和解读，必定要融入作者独到的见解
The book in front of us is compiled according to the teaching needs of the graduate student of arts. In the past few years, books on the original aspects of Marxism have been published in succession in two broad categories: one is research monographs, and the other is explanatory readings. Originally, there should be no clear distinction between these two kinds of works because any valuable annotation and interpretation must incorporate the author’s original ideas
