劳动生产率,一般是指人们在生产中的劳动效率,具体地说,就是指劳动者的生产成果与相应的劳动消耗量之间的比率。它反映着劳动者在一定时间内创造使用价值的能力。提高劳动生产率是节约人力、降低成本、增加生产、提高经济效益的重要途径。邮电通信企业,既是技术密集型企业,又是劳动密集型企业,劳务支出在整个支出中占很大比重。只有不断提高劳动生产率,才能更多地积累资金,扩大再生产,加速邮电事业的发展。邮电通信企业提高劳动生产率,不但具有上述的普遍意义,而且具有促进全社会劳动生产率和经济效益提高的特殊意义。邮电通信企业劳动生产率越高,在单位时间内传递邮电产品就越多,也就意味着邮电产品传递速度加快,传递时间缩短,从而产生节约社会劳动时间的巨大效果,乃至经济上的巨大效果。我们可以用“时间就是金钱”这个比喻来概括劳动生产率的时间价值。因为,衡量劳动生产率的高低,离不开时间。在单位时间内生产的产品越多,单位产品所包含的劳动量越少,劳动生产率就越高,为社会创造的财富就越多,这就意味着“时间就是金钱”。
