A comprehensive review of the process and period of production and utilization of academic journals from the perspective of supply chain. Statistical analysis found that the conceptual writing cycle, publishing cycle and reference cycle accounted for 12%, 49% and 39% of the total cycle respectively. 84% of the time during publication and publication was spent in ineffective waiting and the overall effective utilization of time Below 60%. Too much demand for publications and insufficient supply of periodicals are the root causes of stagflation and congestion in the supply chain of academic journals. The inefficient coordination among the various parties in the supply chain is the key factor leading to low utilization rate.
