秦皮,神农本草经列为中品,“味苦微寒,主风寒湿痹,洗洗寒气,除热目中翳白膜,久服头不白,轻身。”本草纲目中列入乔木类,又名梣皮,樳木,石檀,樊槻,盆桂,苦树。苏恭曰,树叶似檀故名石檀,俗因苦味呼为苦树。其主治与神农本草经记载相似。植物名实图考上记载,秦皮本经列中品,树似檀,取皮渍水便碧色,书纸看之皆青。湖南呼为称星树,以其皮有白点如称星故名。中国树木分类学上记载,秦皮系木犀科植物小叶白蜡(Fraxinus bungeanaDC.),产于河北、河南、陕西等省。并谓树皮入药,俗称秦皮。中药通报1956年第4期上刊载了关于秦皮商品真伪问题一文,言西北区所产秦皮与东北区所产秦皮系两种同名异物的中药,由上可知秦皮的
