In order to explore the vertical transmission of hepatitis C virus (HCV) between maternal and infant, umbilical cord blood was collected from 64 newborns with anti-HCV (+) and / or HCV RNA (+) Anti-HCV, HCV RNA by reverse transcription PCR. Results: HCV RNA (+) pregnant women, regardless of antibody positive or not, the vertical transmission rate of 93 9%, with elevated ALT, neonatal ALT increased. HCV RNA (-), anti-HCV (+) pregnant women, neonatal anti-HCV detection rate of 100%, but the RNA was not detected (+), can not be used as a basis for HCV infection. Conclusion: HCV does have vertical transmission between mother and baby.
