The motor vehicle accident (MVA) was the leading cause of death among Israeli under-40s, exceeding the country’s death toll in the war. Until recently, the role of drunk driving (DWI) in motor vehicle accidents has received little attention. In previous studies, none of the 163 autopsy deaths from a motor vehicle accident had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) exceeding 50 mg / dl. This paper reports the results of autopsy BAC in Israel drunken driving and drunken walking (WWI) incidents, showing that BAC50 is a dangerously increased cut-off value that can be used when dealing with traffic accidents. Of the 706 (36.4%) of 706 adult drivers who died in traffic accidents in Israel and 313 (30.2%) of 1035 adult pedestrians from 1976 to 1980, the authors autopsy and determine BAC.
