The Rose for Emily is one of the most classic short stories by the famous American writer William Faulkner in the twentieth century. The novel has also been translated as “a rose to commemorate Emily” and so on. The author Faulkner to Emily as the main line, shows the image of the South lady aristocratic girl gradual withering, personality tragedy of alienation, to project the South American Puritans on people’s spiritual torture, the decline of the old South aristocracy and other topics. From a semiotic point of view, Emily’s tragedy can be attributed to the incomplete reception of the other’s symbolic information and the lack of interpretation of the symbolic information. As a result, Emily eventually shields the sending of symbolic information and chooses to establish his own almost Is completely isolated from the outside world. The absence of the symbol “rose ” is more difficult for others to receive and interpret symbolic information.
