法国当代著名哲学家兼汉学家弗朗索瓦·朱利安在其著作《论普世、划一、共同,兼论文化之间的对话》中,追本溯源,对当今文化对话中流行甚至常常混用的三个基本概念——“普世”、“划一”、“共同”逐一进行了辨析与定义。他认为普世价值的合法性仅限于两希文化圈以内,而“划一”则代表全球化背景下最应当警惕抵制的雷同现象,唯有“共同”才能最大程度地保护文化多样性,使不同思想对照反思,和谐共进。翻译本书的过程,正是译者通过思考一步步了解、接近作者原意,将这三个近义词区分开来,并从它们本身的多重含义中筛选出最佳译法的过程。
