This article discusses the discovery of a tadpole-like zooplankton fossil with a shell-like appearance in the marine black shale of the Early Cambrian in southern China. Identified as ancient tail ascidian fossils. The appearance of this fossil animal in the early Cambrian oceans shows that the evolution of organisms has entered the transitional stage from invertebrate to vertebrate transformation and has a great evolutionary significance. Their appearance is also a genetic indicator and a prospecting indicator for marine combustible organic deposits and black shale-type vanadium deposits.
