The Takahashi fault belt originated in the northwestern margin of the Hubei to the basin, extends for more than 40 kilometers and has undergone multi-period tectonic movements, especially in the late stage with the largest scale and intensity. Using the microscopic and ultra-microstructures of deformed rocks to restore the Himalayan period, the differential stress values of the early and late Neotectonic movements were 145MPa, 76 ~ 100MPa and 30 ~ 40MPa, respectively, higher than other parts of the Three Gorges. Test data show that the fault zone is a weak active fault, but because it is far away from the dam site of the Three Gorges Project, it does not pose a threat to the dam.
