Guangzhou Pearl River Industrial Group Co. Ltd. was founded in July of 1979 asa State-owned Enterprise having corporate capacity under the leadership of ThePeoples Government of Guangzhou Municipality. In todays economic environment,corporate cultural competition has become the kernel of corporate culture. Along withdeepened reforms of the State-owned Enterprise, the State-owned Enterprise itself fallsunder the impact of governmental intrusion while at the same time faces the marketand all its aspects of competition. How to avoid cultural confusion? How to establish ahigher level of corporate culture? How to form State-owned Enterprises corecompetitiveness? These are the main questions that most all of the managers ofState-owned Enterprise need to address. This article is about to overview the dilemma facing corporate culture research athome and abroad. It will analyze the status of State-owned Enterprises corporateculture, point out the dilemmas within the construction of State-owned Enterprisescorporate cultural systems, as well as explicating the problems we should pay attentionto in the construction of State-owned Enterprises corporate culture under the socialistmarket economic system. This is followed by a summary of developmental history ofGuangzhou Pearl River Industrial Group Co. Ltd. This article will also analyze theproblem of corporate cultural confusion and point out the obstacles in the constructionof corporate culture. Finally, I will attempt to set the measures of the Pearl RiverGroups corporate culture construction from the standpoint of corporateleadership, corporate strategy culture corporate systems culture,corporatephilosophical culture and "intangible" corporate culture.
