Photochromic materials are studied extensively due to their important applications in many areas.1 We recently obtained an metal-organic frameworks Zn(C4H4O4)(bipy)2 (bipy=4,4-bipyridine) through the hydrothermal method, and first found its photochromic behavior.Upon exposure to the UV-Visible light by Xe-lamp, the color of the crystal Zn(C4H4O4)(bipy) changes from colorless or yellowish to the bright blue at the room temperature, and the photoproduct can be decolored at the dark or heating in the air.
