Quantitative morpfology of mitral valve in regurgitant lesions is essential both for diagnostics and decision making in valve surgery.Nevertheless it still remains a weak point in 3D echocardiography.Measuring grid or multiplanar reconstruction (MPR) can be used for quantification of linear and planar structures only.MPR, as "3D guided 2D sections" focused to the region of interest, yields very accurate measurements.Mitral valve quantification program (MVQ) represents a higher level of measuring in 3D echo.The principle of this method is creation of a model of mitral valve with possibility of real 3-dimensional quantification ofmitral valve parameters according to the preselected preset.
