In plants as well as in animals, nitric oxide plays diverse roles related to growth and development, and responses to abiotic and biotic stresses.In plants subject to high salt stress, nitric oxide production is induced and potassium uptake repressed; however, whether there is a connection between nitric oxide and potassium absorption has been largely unknown.Here, we report that nitric oxide decreases potassium content by promoting vitamin B6 synthesis.
