There has been an ever increasing interest in designing glutathione (GSH) sensitive drug delivery systems (DDS) to improve therapeutic efficiency as well as minimize drug side effects.Those GSH sensitive DDS engineered with disulfide bond linked sheddable shells are particularly interesting,which maintain stable within blood circulation (GSH 2-10 μM) but allow fast release of therapeutic drugs by cleavage of disulfide bonds triggered by high GSH level (2-10 mM) inside cancer cells[1].
