Bacterial Cellulose can be used in composite materials, usually combined with both organic and inorganic particles. In this study, fabrication method of the Si-C/C composites with natural micro fibrils of Bacterial Cellulose (BC) and Bamboo charcoal Particle (BP) as Si additive. The effect of BP mass content on the wear and friction properties has been investigated.By using the Direct Impregnation Method (DIM),the BC microfibrils network of three dimensional nano-structure with BP remained in the Si-C/C composites.Samples were prepared by carbonizing temperatures of 700℃ to 1000℃.The dry sliding wear test for the composites had been carried out against the SUS304 counter face by using a pin on drum type tribology apparatus. From the wear test results, the wear and friction properties of the Si-C/C composites were dependent on BP mass content and carbonizing temperature. The friction coefficient had low values of 0.15 ~ 0.30,and the specific factors of wear element loss was 2.16×10-10 ~ 1.12×10-9[mm2/N].The composites with 5wt% BP carbonized at 900℃ indicated the lowest friction coefficient of 0.15 among the composites. The composites with 5wt% BP carbonized at 1000℃ exhibited the lowest wear rate of 2.16× 10-10[mm2/N].The experimental results also indicated that BP can be applied as fillers which can provide lower wear and friction properties.
