Forestry map is one of the main results of forest resources inventory and the important data of forest management.The requirements and elements of forestry map keep condition of 60 years ago.However,in the past 30 years,the precision of surveying and mapping instruments was improved sharply,computer science and geographicinformation system have been widely used in forestry field,the original requirements and elements of forestry map can’t be suit for the demands of forestry development.Therefore,in this paper,we try to scientifically research theproblems of the current forestry maps including forestry basic maps,stand maps,forest distribution maps,and thematic maps.Combining the practical application situation of remote sensing and geographic information system on forestry field,the selecting rule,map elements,plotting scale and breadth for forestry maps were researched,and the countermeasure for improving and completing the digital forestry maps was proposed.Furthermore,the conception ofspecialized maps for precision forestry was proposed and its elements were defined in this paper.
