Civilian police is regarded as an agent of the government to safeguard the law and order.In the western democracies,it is also perceived as a unit to serve and facilitate the civic liberties of the citizens.Studies on the dynamics of police legitimacy are prevalent among the academia and practitioners of policing and they are particularly keen to explore the attributes shaping the trust of people towards the police.
