  Magnesium alloy as a new type of metal material has been widely used in many fields.However,magnesium has the hcp structure, poor plasticity and hard deformation during forming processing.The grain refinement can help to improve the plastic properties of the metals.Therefore, the grain refinement of magnesium alloys has become a popular research field.In this paper, equal channel angular pressing technology (ECAP) is used to make large plastic deformation of magnesium alloy, ECAP processing and relevant process parameters have been obtained by using finite element method.The strain distributions in the workpieces and the loads of on the dies have been studied.The mathematical model of accumulated deformation results, microstructure refinement and mechanical properties are established.Through the analysis, the relationship between grain refinement and mechanical properties were obtained.The deformation prediction of material accumulation in characterization of refined of the refined grain size and the obtained mechanical properties are forecasted by using characterization of accumulation deformation.
