Mycoplasma pneumoniae is one of the common pathogens of atypical pneumoniae,it is usually sensitive to macrolides. However,in recent years, resistance to the macrolides has occurred in M.pneumoniae, which appears to be increasing year by year. The rise in macrolides resistance in M.pneumoniae poses a major challenge to M.pneumoniae pandemic preparedness. It is confirmed that the macrolides resistance is caused by the mutations on domain V of 23S rRNA gene of M.pneumoniae in previous studies.Sodevelopment of rapid sensitive resistance monitoring methods becomes time-critical and relevant globally. In this study,we developed a faster and least expensive method using PCR-based single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) analysis to detect macrolides resistantmutations from throat swabs.
