The role of the tumor microenvironment is now realized to be of critical importance during the tumor initiation, angiogenesis, progression and metastasis.Cancer-associated fibroblasts(CAFs) are abundant in the stroma of solid tumor, which are the main source of collager. Both CAFs and collagen can raise the interstitial fluid pressure (IFP) in tumor, which presents a transport barrier that restricts nanoparticle penetration into the deep of tumor, thereby limiting the efficacy of nano-drug delivery vehicles for cancer therapy.
