The distribution of proliferative zones, nitric oxide (NO)-producing cells and apoptosis areas in the medulla oblongata, cerebellum, optic tectum, thalamus and hypothalamus of Amur sturgeon Acipenser schrenckii was investigated, using techniques of immunoperoxidase staining of proliferating cell nuclear antigen, neuronal nitric oxide synthase and TUNEL-labeling of fragmented DNA.
