Based on analyzing the contextual factors and theoretical bases,we explored different effects of servant leadership and servant leadership on employeesjob engagement. We hypothesized opposite moderating effects of leader-member value congruence, employees power distance and emotional intelligence on the relationship between two leadership styles and job engagement respectively. Results show that both servant leadership and paternalistic leadership are positively related to employeesjob engagement. As we expected, emotional intelligence positively the main effect of servant leadership, while negatively moderate the main effect of paternalistic leadership.Conversely,leader-member value congruence has completely opposite moderation effects.Unlike we originally expected, employeespower distance positively moderates the main effects of servant leadership, while the moderation effects on paternalistic failed to get support. Finally,we further analyze and discuss the analytical outcomes. The interview evidence is also enlightening for the research.
