  Photothermal ablation (PTA) of cancers is being confronted with great obstacles in dealing with deep-located tumors due to the inevitable quick depth-dependent decline of laser intensity.Fortunately, radiotherapy (RT) could compensate for this shortcoming of PTA on account of its almost unlimited penetration in tissues and potential radiation dose-enhancement effect.Moreover, PTA as a strategy of hyperthermia could in turn overcome the inherent difficulty of RT by killing the radio-resistant hypoxic and S-phase cells.Therefore, the integration of PTA and RT could effectively compensate each other in anticancer, which results in a remarkable synergistic effect in tumor therapy.
