  Firstly, the paper analyses the feasibility of solar energy utilization at the western region of Gansu, in view of characteristics of this region.There are fewer rainy days throughout the year, higher atmospheric transparency, and abundant solar energy resources.It also discusses solar house design and some problems in use and design.The main purpose is to increase the use of renewable energy, to improve the efficiency of utilization of solar energy, and better rural living conditions.
