Recently there has been a growing worldwide trend to explore fuel cells, which are the promising power sources for supplying clean and efficient energy. In a fuel cell, the cathodic oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is the most challenging step, since the strong O = O bond (498 kJ mol-1) with very slow ORR rate has a much larger overpotential (or polarization) than that of hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) at the anode[1].
