The αl β1 integrin, also known as VLA-1, is a cell surface receptor for collagens Ⅳ, ⅨX, Ⅰ and XIV that plays a critical role in the adhesion and migration of immune cells within the extracellular matrix (ECM).It is upregulated by inflammatory cytokines and found on immunocytes at sites of chronic inflammation, including rheumatoid and psoriatic .arthritis (RA, PsorA) and psoriatic skin lesions.
