  Microporous organic polymers (MOPs) are of growing interest due to the possible uses in gas adsorption,seperations, and catalysis [1].One of the cheaper strategies for the synthesis of MOPs is hypercrosslinking.For a long time, however, the polymeric precursors or monomers used for constructing hypercrosslinked polymers (HCPs) are limited to swollen poly(styrene) and poly(chloromethylstyrene), as well as polyfunctional benzyl chlorides, which may limit the synthetic diversification of the resulting materials.Recently, we developed a versatile strategy for preparing HCPs by using the simple one-step Friedel-Crafts reaction.
