This paper proposes a strategy for sourcing the middle offices of financial institutions.The proposed strategy consolidates common business operations and processes of the middle office across multiple partner financial institutions,and uses shared services to reduce operational cost and to increase data and knowledge sharing among partner financial institutions.This paper illustrates six organizational design processes of the proposed strategy.It also compares the proposed strategy with two popular existing strategies,outsourcing and co-sourcing,that have been widely adopted in practice.
