  行为谱是动物所表现的所有行为序列,为准确表述动物的行为特征,需对动物行为进行归类、命名和分析.PAE 编码系统是迄今较为有效的一种动物行为描述方法.该系统把动物行为分解为姿势(postures,P)、动作(acts,A)和行为发生的环境(environments,E),已被广泛用于动物行为谱分析.学者们已报道了部分哺乳动物如麋鹿(Elaphurus davidianus)、太行山猕猴(Macaca mulatta tcheliensis)等基于PAE 编码系统的行为谱,但相关研究在鸟类尚不多见.
