  In recent years,to product ultra-low carbon steel,vaucuum refining processes are widely used for deep decaburization,desulfurization and so on.In the processe of decaburization,the CO is separated out from molten steel.Because of the low pressure and uniform pressure difference in vacuum vessel,the CO forms stratified distribution.With the blowing of oxygen from top oxygen lance,gaseous mixture starts burning,and the heat of chemical reaction can heat the molten steel,which can compensate the heat loss during RH treatment.To study this lean combustion process,a mathematical model coupled fluid flow and combustion was build.Based on this model,the flow field,temprature,pressure and the gas concentration distribution in vacuum vessel of RH-KTB device were obtained.The relationship between carbon concentration,oxygen flow rate and temperature rising was found out depends on the numerical results.Furthermore,the results of this study are very helpful to improve the quality of production,to save energy and to protect the environment.
