Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders,afflicts around 1% of world population at any time.Much efforts devoted in the recent years for the development of novel therapeutics resulted in the availability of several newer drugs as promising anticonvulsants.However,the currently available anticonvulsants are effective in reducing the severity and number of seizures in less than 70% of patients.Moreover,their usage is associated with undesirable numerous side effects.Thus,there is an urgent need for the development of novel AEDs with more efficacy and lower toxicity.
