Purpose: To characterize optic disc changes of Lebers hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON) by optical coherence tomography (OCT),Methods: 60 eyes from 60 consecutive LHON patients and 9 eyes from 9 age and sex-matched healthy subjects were scanned using Cirrus HD-OCT, affected eyes were classified into 7 groups according to disease duration (1st group:≤ 1 months;2nd group: 1~3 months;3rd group: 3~6 months;4th group: 6~9 month;5th group: 9~12months;6th group: 12~24 months;7th group: >24 months). The rim area, disc area, C/D area ratio, average C/D, vertical C/D and cup volume were compared between each LHON group and control group.
