Since the discovery of mammalian TRPC family in 1995, various physiological functions of the Ca2+-permeable TRPC channels have been demonstrated. However, unlike the target of L-type voltage-gated Ca2+channel with many therapeutic antagonists, there is still no therapeutic drug for TRPC channels. We are seeking to understand the potential therapeutic roles of TRPC in cardiovascular disorders, such as in coronary heart disease, hypertension and cardiac hypertrophy.
