近几年来,国际上动物实验替代方法的研究与验证工作发展很快,特别是在药品和化妆品等安全性评价领域,许多替代方法已通过验证或正在验证之中.替代方法的应用不仅可以减少实验动物的使用量,降低检验成本,缩短检验时间,更重要的是利用替代方法可以从不同层面开展毒理机制研究,保证检验结果的准确性,提高检验的科学性.同时,替代方法的研究与应用,也是打破国际贸易中一些国家和地区设置的技术壁垒的基础保障.
