In this paper, nanosized alumina, titania and other additive powders were blended and reconstituted to sprayable feedstock. The nanostructured Al2O3-13wt%TiO2 ceramic coatings have been successfully prepared by plasma spray technique on a titanium alloy substrate.A CO2 laser has been used to remelt the plasma sprayed nanostructured Al2O3-13wt%TiO2 coatings with the purpose of homogenizing their microstructure, eliminating their porosity and enhancing their bonding strength. The phase sonstitution, microstructure characterization and composition of the nanostructured Al2O3-13wt%TiO2 coatings before and after laser remelting were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD),scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive analysis of X-rays (EDAX) techniques, respectively.
