In recent years,with PV industry continuously reducing costs,PV power generation is rapidly moving towards grid parity;at the same time,peoples understanding and requirement to quality is also increasing,especially to PV modules,which should be:operated at low temperature;high efficient;low cost;long life time (long-term reliability will be more than 25 years,or even 50 years);high insulation (high voltage tolerance,PD≥1500VDC),etc.Among the encapsulation materials i.e.backsheet for crystalline silicon solar modules,fluorine-containing materials have the longest life time;the most mature technology;the most wildly used applications,and still occupy a dominant position in large-scale applications and industrial production.This article will discuss the status and development trends of encapsulation materials for crystalline silicon solar modules as well as the technological development of encapsulation materials under the influence of new type of solar cells and photovoltaic technology;meanwhile,the article will list the comparisons of technology,structure,property and the cost of the backsheet under the condition of new GB,ICE draft standers for PV backsheet.The article will also point out some technical barriers related to the research and development of next generation of PV backsheet and certain predictions of market prospects of PV thin film.
