NiAl powders were fabricated by Combustion Synthesis (CS) method directly from mixed powders of Nickel (Ni) and Aluminum (Al).The control of the reactions was achieved by selecting compositions away from the stoichiometry (31.5%Al), relative density of green compacts and preheating temperature in CS reactor.The effects of these different influential factors on the phase compositions and morphologies of combustion products were investigated.The results show that, it is advantageous for the sample to increase the complete reaction giving NiAl compound through adding appropriately excess Al/Ni than stoichiometric ratio in Ni+Al system and adjusting preheating process in the CS reactor.The final product with the minimal content of impurities could be fabricated at appropriate relative density of green compact.
