This paper couples the meteorological Mesoscale Model (MM5) with a non-steady state CALPUFF modeling system to investigate the causes of air pollution in peninsula-based cities and seeks to propose more strengthening control measures for improving air quality from the perspective of "air pollution climatology".For this purpose,a virtual emission inventory of SO2 was developed to calculate the influences of different meteorological conditions on air quality in Weihai city of China quantificationally.
